Eaton
Makes equipment to manage electricity in buildings, factories and data centers.
📖 Its story
In 1911, Joseph Eaton and his partners opened a small workshop in New Jersey to make axles for trucks. Soon they moved to Cleveland, near the car factories. Over time they went from truck parts to taking care of the electricity the world uses.
💵 How it makes money
It sells electrical equipment like panels, switches and power systems to companies and builders.
🤯 Fun fact
Eaton started out making truck axles with a design patented by Viggo Torbensen, one of its founders.
👍 The good part
Data centers and new buildings need lots of carefully controlled electricity.
⚠️ The risk
If fewer buildings and factories get built, people may buy less of its equipment.
