FedEx

Delivers packages fast by plane and truck to almost everywhere in the world.

📖 Its story

Fred Smith had an idea: bring all the packages to one central airport and send them from there to where they're going, overnight. In 1971 he started Federal Express. In 1973 it started flying, and that way a package could arrive the next day.

💵 How it makes money

It charges to deliver packages and documents, depending on their size, weight and speed.

🤯 Fun fact

On its first night of operations, in 1973, FedEx delivered 186 packages using 14 small planes.

👍 The good part

Online shopping means more and more people need to send packages.

⚠️ The risk

If people buy less or the price of fuel goes up, it earns less.
