Berkshire Hathaway

Owns lots of different companies: insurance, trains, energy, candy and more.

📖 Its story

A very long time ago, in 1839, it started as a cotton cloth mill in Rhode Island. In 1965, an investor named Warren Buffett took control and slowly turned it into a company that buys other companies. Today it owns dozens of very different businesses.

💵 How it makes money

With the profits of its companies, especially insurance like GEICO, and with shares of other companies.

🤯 Fun fact

It owns Dairy Queen ice cream, Duracell batteries and the insurance company GEICO.

👍 The good part

Because its businesses are so varied, if one does badly, others can make up for it.

⚠️ The risk

It has to show it still works just as well now that Warren Buffett is no longer its CEO.
