Costco

Huge warehouse stores where members buy products in big packs at good prices.

📖 Its story

In 1983, Jim Sinegal and Jeffrey Brotman opened their first warehouse in Seattle. Their idea was simple: sell fewer products, in big packs and very cheap, to customers with a membership. People loved it, and today it has warehouses in many countries, including Mexico.

💵 How it makes money

By charging yearly memberships and selling products with a very small profit on each one.

🤯 Fun fact

Its hot dog and soda combo has cost $1.50 in the U.S. since 1985.

👍 The good part

Most of its members renew their membership year after year.

⚠️ The risk

It makes very little on each product, so it needs to sell a whole lot.
