Chevron

Pumps oil and gas, refines them and sells gasoline and other fuels.

📖 Its story

In 1876, some explorers found oil in Pico Canyon, in the mountains near Los Angeles. In 1879, merchants from San Francisco started the Pacific Coast Oil Company to make use of it. Over time, that company became Chevron.

💵 How it makes money

By selling oil, natural gas, gasoline and chemical products.

🤯 Fun fact

The Pico No. 4 well, from 1876, was the first successful commercial oil well in California.

👍 The good part

It works in many countries, which gives it several sources of energy.

⚠️ The risk

It depends on the price of oil, which goes up and down a lot, and many countries want cleaner energy.
